Mother’s and their daughters share a bond that is unlike any other. We look up to them, we confide in them, we go to them for support, advice and most importantly comfort and love. It is a relationship that changes and grows as we do.
It is nice to take a moment and capture the here and now. I was so happy to do that for this beautiful mom and daughter. Miss E, is the shining star in mom’s world and she really wanted to capture their connection at this age. There were lots of giggles and hugs the whole session and I loved every moment.
We all know winter is coming. You can feel it now. The air is a little crisper, the leaves are crunching beneath our feet, the trees are bare.
But on this particular day, we celebrated one of the last brilliant, colourful, warm autumn days. Truly fall in all it’s glory!
And oh my! These kids! Their little happy faces and bright personalities, matched the day perfectly! I heard all about their Halloween adventures as we walked the trails, found sticks and leaves and climbed fences and boulders. The H family was as amazing as the day. Thank you for letting me capture your family!
I think one of the best parts of my job is seeing the same families year after year. To see how much the kids have grown, to hear what they are up to, how their little personalities have developed. It is a real thrill.
This is one of those families that I have the privilege of seeing often, but even so, it still surprises me how big the girls are every time! I am so lucky to be the photographer that gets to document their story. And really? This post could be twice as long, they are all so beautiful and happy!
I photograph my kids on a pretty consistent basis through the year. However, as they getting older, I find I rely on my iPhone more and more, and only bring out my ‘big’ camera for special events. I *think* I’m ok with this. It means I’m living in the moment with them, which is pretty important too.
However, I can’t let go of documenting their birthdays with a special session all about them. Our son loves the outdoors and can entertain himself outside for hours on end. It made perfect sense to photograph him, as he hit double digits, in a space he loves!
TEN! I can’t believe it!
We all know winter is around the corner. Especially with the unexpected snow we saw here in Ottawa yesterday! But let’s hang on to fall a little while longer with this family session! It wasn’t too long ago that we could shed our sweaters and jackets and take in the evening sun as it set on another day.
And with the D Family, we did just that! The sun was all warm and glowing and was just perfection for their annual fall photos. So happy and lovely!
These two girls were so excited to be at a new park, where the exploring options are infinite. “Let’s go here!” was definitely the line of the evening. Climbing, jumping and a lot of running took us from here to there in no time! But we also slowed down a little to enjoy a few cuddles, snuggles and holding hands.
I’ve been pretty lucky to photograph the L family for many, many years. I’ve watched the boys grow from shy toddlers to big kids, full of energy and spunk. And while I certainly hope that this isn’t the last time I see them, they are on the brink of some amazing adventures. Adventures that would make anyone envious! Back packs, airplanes, beaches, new foods and new experiences are all waiting. I’m pretty sure they will come back more worldly and more mature than ever!
Thank you A&L! All the best to your family. I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures!
I love it when people realize that their lives and memories are worth preserving!
When Mom T, contacted me and asked if she could book a family photo session, in celebration of their 10 year wedding anniversary, I don’t think my squeal of delight could be heard loud enough!
So much happens in that first decade of marriage. You come together as a family, you set up your first home together, maybe welcome a few children to the mix. These are huge accomplishments! Your lives become intertwined on a whole new level and your love grows in much the same way. Why not capture the memories and celebrate how far you have come?
I was so honoured that T&B asked me to do this for them.
T&B – you are wonderful people with a gorgeous family. Here’s wishing you many more years of wedded bliss!
Look at this sweet, adorable, happy face!
It is the face of a newly minted three year old!
Little Miss A was pretty excited about the whole thing. She told me all about her party and cupcakes the day before and now, here we were, ready to capture her in all her three year old glory! We had a fun time walking the trails, picking flowers and even found the most perfect walking stick. Sounds just about perfect for a three year old girl.
One boy, two boys, three boys?? Only time will tell!
If you ask the boys themselves, they are pretty split on the outcome too. One says sister, while the other says brother. Mom is leaning towards blue too, but I think she is hoping for a little pink and glitter in her life. And really after a few years of cars and mud, who can blame her?
After photographing both these boys since they were in mom’s tummy, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for their news! In the next few weeks we will find out and I will be there to photograph him or her. Watch the blog to find out who was right!
