In more ways than one!

I started off my weekend with this beautiful Mama to Be, who was just glowing!  She contacted me to do both a maternity and a newborn session as a surprise to her husband!  How exciting is that?  In an effort not to give away too much (just incase he stubbles upon my blog) I am just going to post a tiny sneak peek!  Enjoy Mama!  See you later in the summer!

Can you imagine?  Outnumbered 4 to 1?  But also what fun!  Mom will forever be the Queen of the house!

I met up with this lovely (and active) family to capture their final week before welcoming a new baby boy into their lives.  He could even be here now!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

A few nights ago I spent the evening with J&D capturing their final weeks ALONE together before baby make his debut.  (They are 99% sure it is a baby boy).  Things are surely going to change – but only for the better!  This baby is so incredibly lucky to have these two as his parents.  They are fun, happy and just genuinely nice people!  I couldn’t think of a nicer way to spend a spring evening.

We started off at J&D’s home, where we captured these stunning images of J.  Pregnancy certainly agrees with her!

We then moved to Rideau Hall, which is a very special place for J&D.

As the grounds closed for the evening, we had a little fun on the other side of the fence!

Thank you again for the lemonade and the wonderful evening.  Wishing you nothing but happiness as your family grows!

I don’t think I could have left this weekend’s maternity session any happier even if I tried!

I met K&A and their very fashionable little L at Stony Swamp.  I was a little worried that they might think I was the crazy photographer, when I suggested an outdoor session in the snow, but K didn’t flinch.  In fact, she embraced my vision with both arms.  She just *got* me.  I don’t think I’ve stopped smiling yet!

The location was perfect, the temperature was amazing and I had a family who was up for anything!  A photographer’s dream!  So this is going to be a picture overload!

Thanks again guys!  I enjoyed every minute of our afternoon together.

And seriously, can you be any more beautiful?

I could look at this one all day

Just look at this spunky little thing!

I met with this fun couple to capture a wonderful and exciting time in their lives ~ a new baby!!  C & G are expecting their first child – a baby girl – in a few weeks time and already her room is done and waiting.  You just have to see her nursery!  It is gorgeous!  Can you tell how much she is anticipated?  My daugher would go nuts for this purple room!

See you both in a few weeks with your little bundle of baby girl!!

As most of my clients know, I am currently expecting baby #3!

I was so lucky this past weekend to have my friend and fellow photographer Petra King, capture this special time for my family.  Petra knew I was looking for a special outdoor location - which is hard to find this time of year in Canada – but she really pulled through.  Cullen Garden’s in Whitby proved to be everything I desired and Petra’s photos were everything I imagined they would be!  In the grand scheme of things, pregnancy is such a short moment in our lives and to have these memories to look back on, makes me incredibly happy.  We were more than happy to make the trek from Ottawa to capture these images.

Anyone expecting in Toronto or the GTA, should really check her out!

Thank you Petra for a wonderful afternoon and beautiful memories!  I’m so glad the weather cooperated for us.  I will treasure them always!

 Another New Ottawa Mommy-to-Be!

I was really excited to photograph S and C, not only because this session was baby shower gift to them, but the name of their street was the same as mine growing up in Toronto!  It took me right back to my own happy childhood.  Now that I have met S and C, I know their baby’s childhood is going to be just as great and filled with much love.  I can’t wait to meet him or her in a few weeks time!

I spent a wonderful afternoon with M and L today who are expecting their first baby.  Baby (it’s a surprise)will grow up in the same 100 year old home that Daddy did!  How cool and special is that?

I love this moment!

This is one of my favourites.  At 35 weeks, M has such a great baby belly!

And Baby #1.  I think she is ready to be a big sister!

Can’t wait to meet the new baby in a few weeks time!  Stay tuned!

If I learned anything from Susan Robichaud, it is to expand your horizons when looking for shooting locations. Pretty parks are definitely not the only things that make for pretty pictures. And as a result, I am now officially in love with urban settings!! Ottawa has a number of hidden gems that would make for beautiful maternity portraits and I really hope to shoot some more in the future!
