I can’t believe the number of babies, with due dates penciled in on my calender, have decided to show up early!  A few days here or there isn’t unheard of, but I’m talking weeks!  If only I was so lucky!  The last few weeks of pregnancy are always the hardest.

Beautiful Miss A, was one of those babies that decided to delight her parents with an early arrival.  Just as beautiful as can be though!  And her parents are clearly smitten.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my morning with this new family of 3.  Mom and Dad were so fun and chatty and happy to go through the ups and downs of the session with me – including quite a few clean ups!  I think this session, a wonderful gift from friends, was happily recieved.  I know they are itching to see a few images with the hopes of sending a few home to an excited first time grandpa in Ethiopia!  He has yet to see Miss A, so without waiting any longer….enjoy!

Thanks again M&M, it was a pleasure to meet you both.  I wish you nothing but the best on your journey into parenthood.

As soon as I laid eyes on beautiful baby M, I complimented Mom and Dad on her gorgeous lips!  So lovely and kissable!  I know how many kisses my babies got as snuggly litte newborns, so I can just image how many M gets on a daily basis!  And with a lovely big brother in the house too, I’m sure it is muliplied even more!

Miss M was amazing for us, as you can see.  She was born before Christmas and was already 5 weeks old at the time of our session.  Normally newborns are best photographed as soon as possible – one of the reasons I strongly suggest booking your newborn session early, while you are still pregnant – the younger they are the more sleepy and easily moved they are.  But Mom wanted to wait and we still got some of those great new baby poses that she was hoping for!  You just never know!

I was so excited when this mom to be contacted me about a maternity session for baby number 3.  You see, I have photographed her sister’s family on a few occassions in the past.  I love the connection and relationships between families, so this session opened the door and not only allowed me to meet another branch on the family tree, but also see how similar and connected that tree really is.  Mom and her sister are clearly siblings!  I’m interested to know if the family resemblence will continue with the newest little twig in a few weeks!  Only time will tell!

After meeting new mom to be, J, there is no doubt in my mind she is going to have a  newborn fashionista on her hands in just a few short days!

When I arrived at J & S house, J had already picked out a few outfits she wanted to incorporate into our maternity session – complete with accessories!  And can I tell you how much I loved all her choices?!  A vibrant red shirt with a long necklace, a simple form fitting white shirt with a frilly pink (because it’s a girl!) scarf, and shoes to match!  All perfect choices that complemented her and her home.

Thank you J&S for a fun afternoon.  I’m on pins and needles waiting to hear your news!  Enjoy your sneak peek\

Aren’t they cute?

Just before the holidays I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this little bundle of joy!

It was the morning of the first real snowfall we had in Ottawa, but despite the cold outside, Mr. T and his family were warm and sweet.   He really was a great little subject to photograph.  Aside from a little food break here and there - and really who doesn’t need a little food once in awhile? – baby T was just a laid back little guy who posed like he has done it his whole life!

Thank you A&K for inviting me into your home and making me feel so welcomed.  It was an honour to capture your new son and your growing family!

We’re 4 days into the new year, 2012, and so far so good!

As always at this time of year, I like to take a moment to look back and reflect on the past year.  2011 was good to me both, professionally and personally.  My business grew. I met some incredible families and helped many of them welcome new babies into their lives.  I captured moments between new couples, and couples that have been together for years.  I chased their toddlers, many who I had met as newborns.  And I enjoyed every moment.

Personally, we also welcomed our fourth baby (3rd girl) into our family – on my birthday!  And now, as she is coming up to her 1st birthday, it really makes me wonder where the time goes!  I’ve learned to be more patient, more organized and really not to sweat the small stuff.  It all gets done in the end, so why not enjoy your kids while they are this little?

So while I thought about that, I decided not to just look back on all the sessions – maternity, children, family, newborns – I had shot this year, but to look at all the new babies that started their lives in 2011.  They transformed couples into families, and some families into much bigger families (like mine!).  They made people happy, mulitiplied the love and showed us what a true miracle is.  Lets hope for much more of that in 2012!

Thank you to all my lovely clients for making it such a great year.  Hope to see you soon.  Happy New Year!

Like I said a few posts back, this fall has brought me a lot of newborn baby girls!  All have been as sweet as sweet can be and baby S was no exception.  I really don’t think she made a real peep the entire session, which is pretty amazing at 2 weeks old!  Yes, she got hungry and had a few spells of awake time, but all that is normal and comes as no surprise.   I think S lucked into some wonderful parents ;)

Thank you L&A.  I really enjoyed meeting you and spending the morning with you.

This adorable brother and sister came to see me on a gorgeous fall afternoon, specifically to shoot their family Christmas card.  Given that we are just five (yikes!) sleeps away now, I think it is safe to share a few images from their session!

This is a great age to photograph.  Let’s just say, it is much easier to direct a tween than a 2 year old!

As I typed out the title for this post, I came to the realization that I have photographed A LOT of girls this fall.  It is making me curious to know what the gender split will be by the end of the year!  Yes, I am still waiting on one more baby for 2011 :) .  As the mother of 3 girls and 1 boy, I feel like somehow the girls always win out!

It has been a very busy end to the year and in an effort to remain afloat, I haven’t been blogging as much.  But with this cute little princess I am hoping to catch up and blog some of my sessions from the last couple of months.

So without further ado, meet Miss E.  So adorable and so good!  And Mom and Dad were pretty amazing too.  For first time parents, they were laid back and happy to go with the flow, which always makes things go swimmingly.  And they had the most amazing home to boot.  The walls were covered in Dad’s art and photos the two of them have taken over the years.  On top of that, they had this amazing orange in-between being painted- wall in their bedroom and found I was drawn to shooting against it. So different and unique, which I think was very fitting for mom and dad (and now Baby E).  The Thank you A & M for a wonderful afternoon.  I think you were made to be parents.

You may remember this family from L’s maternity session back in the early fall.  While I love to photograph mom’s to be in all their glowing excitement, I know that there is a newborn baby session to follow, which makes me just as excited!!!

Lovely baby K made her big debut, right on time as expected.  She is beautiful and lovely and a pleasure to photograph.  In fact, she made it quite difficult for me to pick a few for her sneak peek – so be prepared for a bit of an overload.   Together we created many many beautiful images that I’m sure mom and dad will love! But when K was done, she was done!  Maybe a foreshadowing of her sassy personality to come???

Thanks again L&M&O.  I enjoyed my morning with all of you.  Thanks again for inviting me into your home to capture such a wonderful occasion!
